Board

Nominations for Board positions will open January 25, 2019 and close on February 8, 2019. For more information about the positions please contact current leadership at board@meridiandowntown.org.

Board positions may only be held by members of the MDBA who are current on membership dues and are expected to attend all board meetings (new meeting time TBD by new board members) and all general membership meetings (4th Friday of the month, 8:30am)

President

  • Lead all MDBA board and general membership meetings
  • Represent MDBA in community
  • Represent MDBA to city leaders
  • Facilitate meetings with other organizations in Meridian
  • Drive membership efforts

Requirements: President must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable with public speaking, and possess leadership and organizational skills. Also must have a firm grasp on the technology tools used by the MDBA including Google applications (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive).

Estimated weekly time requirements: 3-5 hours.

Vice President

  • Provide support to the president for all items listed above
  • Lead meetings when president is not available
  • Represent MDBA in community and to city leaders along with president
  • Other duties as assigned by president

Requirements: Vice President must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable with public speaking, and possess leadership and organizational skills. Also must have a firm grasp on the technology tools used by the MDBA including Google applications (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive).

Estimated weekly time requirements: 2-4 hours.

Treasurer

  • Check the MDBA PO Box (bi-weekly)
  • Balance MDBA books using Quickbooks Online (Monthly)
  • Pay bills (Monthly)
  • Add new members, send invoices and receive payments (Monthly)
  • Create annual budget (Yearly)
  • Send report to Secretary of State (Yearly)

Requirements: Treasurer must have a general understanding of bookkeeping. In addition, must be able to use current technology such as Email, Google Docs, Quickbooks Online.

Estimated weekly time requirements: 1-2 hours.

Secretary

  • Take notes and send out meeting minutes after all board meetings
  • Take notes and send out meeting minutes after all general membership meetings
  • Email communication with MDBA members re: meeting changes and other updates
  • Keep meeting calendars up to date (website & Google calendar)
  • Create documents for MDBA (such as this one explaining all the board positions!)

Requirements: Secretary must be able to use Email, Google Docs, Google Calendar and perform basic website updates (training provided). Must have strong communications skills, especially written.

Estimated weekly time requirements: 1-2 hours.
